At Design CliniQ, we’re passionate about transforming HDB flats into spaces that reflect our clients’ personalities and dreams. Recently, we had the pleasure of working on a project at Block 607 Senja Road. The homeowners came to us with a dream, and together, we embarked on a journey to bring it to life.
In this blog, we’ll unveil the remarkable transformation of this HDB unit. Get ready to witness the magic unfold – from the initial “before” state, through the planning stage with stunning 3D renderings, and finally, the grand reveal of the completed project! We’ll showcase how we addressed the clients’ needs and maximized the potential of their space, room by room.
A Welcoming Entrance
The entrance foyer at Block 607 Senja Road sets the tone for the entire home. We wanted to create a space that was both stylish and functional. To achieve this, we transformed the main door with stunning fluted panels. These panels added a touch of character and texture, making a lasting impression on guests from the moment they step inside.
A key element of the foyer is the custom-designed entry console. This versatile piece serves a dual purpose: acting as a divider for privacy between the entrance and the dining room, and offering ample storage with a touch of elegance. The combination of marble laminate and wood finish creates a sophisticated vibe, while the fluted panels echo the design of the main door for a cohesive look.

A Living Room Transformed
For the living room at Block 607 Senja Road, our goal was to create a space that felt both expansive and inviting. To achieve this, we removed the sliding door that previously separated the living balcony from the main living area. This simple change had a dramatic impact, allowing natural light to flood the room and creating a more open feel.
The homeowner also desired ample storage without sacrificing aesthetics. We addressed this need by incorporating a combination of closed cabinets and open display shelves. The closed cabinets provide discreet storage for everyday essentials, while the open shelves offer a stylish platform to showcase decorative items and personalize the space. This thoughtful blend of functionality and style ensures the living room remains both practical and visually appealing.

Blending Old and New in the Living Room
For the living room at Block 607 Senja Road, we embraced the homeowner’s desire to seamlessly blend modern and traditional aesthetics. To achieve this harmonious balance, we opted for neutral and solid materials for the built-in cabinets. This modern and clean backdrop provided the perfect canvas for the homeowner’s treasured antique pieces.
Furthermore, we incorporated a touch of whimsy with a “quirky and fun” display shelf. This unique feature became the focal point for showcasing the homeowner’s cherished antique and Feng Shui items, ensuring both functionality and a touch of personal style that reflects their beliefs.
A Multifunctional Dining Experience
The dining room at Block 607 Senja Road seamlessly integrates form and function. The key element is the clever back-to-back cabinet design. This innovative solution houses the entrance console on one side and a dry pantry on the other, providing ample storage for the client’s conventional oven and microwave, ideal for convenient food preparation.
To create a focal point and enhance the dining experience, we highlighted the dining table area with beautiful marble tiles. This material choice not only adds a modern touch, but also ties in perfectly with the overall aesthetic of the dry pantry. We ensured a seamless flow by connecting the existing polished floor tiles to the new marble tiles using an inlay feature, creating a visually cohesive termination point.
Furthermore, a built-in well water dispenser adds to the clean lines of the dry pantry concept, harmonizing with the open kitchen design.
Unveiling a Bright and Functional Kitchen
The kitchen at Block 607 Senja Road exemplifies the successful transformation of a once-enclosed space. To fulfill the homeowner’s desire for an open kitchen concept, we designed an accessible layout that maximizes natural light. This openness not only brightens the kitchen but also creates a more expansive feel, a stark contrast to the previous closed-off layout that blocked light from the service yard.
To ensure seamless integration with the open living area, we incorporated several design elements. Firstly, fluted panels similar to those on the entrance door were used to create a stylish and functional “box-up” concealing electrical and plumbing pipes as well as to tie in the whole concept and theme. Secondly, display shelving adds a touch of personality and allows for the showcasing of treasured items. Finally, cleverly concealed storage spaces were built near the bomb shelter door, utilizing the adjustable shelving system to maximize storage capacity in the compact kitchen. This combination of practicality and aesthetics creates a clutter-free and visually appealing open kitchen concept.
Service Yard
For the service yard, a customized sliding door was installed to ensure privacy when hanging laundry, maintaining a clean aesthetic when entertaining guests in the open kitchen.

Upgrading the Common Toilet for Functionality and Style
The common toilet at Block 607 Senja Road received a complete makeover, transforming it into a space that prioritizes both functionality and aesthetics.
One key improvement involved relocating the toilet flush mechanism to the external wall, creating a cleaner and more streamlined look. Additionally, an angled kerb was installed to prevent water overflow from seeping outside the bathroom.
To elevate the design further, we opted for a stunning quartz backsplash that extended all the way up the wall behind the vanity unit. This choice not only provides a luxurious touch but also ensures a seamless finish. Recognizing the limitations of the small window and the client’s preference for keeping it closed, we proposed a customized exhaust system to effectively remove moisture and odors from the toilet.
Furthermore, a shower niche was strategically incorporated into the design, offering convenient storage space for toiletries. The height of the niche was carefully planned to accommodate the floor trap, ensuring a functional and visually pleasing solution. The floor trap itself is a tile insert design, contributing to a smooth and unified aesthetic.
For the vanity unit, a ceramic sink in a marble color was chosen to complement the overall design scheme. To maximize storage while maintaining a clutter-free countertop, we incorporated a mirror cabinet. Finally, LED lighting was installed to provide a warm and inviting ambiance, while a sliding shower screen with black fittings adds a touch of modern contrast and visual interest.

Passageway Personality
The passageway at Block 607 Senja Road serves more than just a transitional purpose. It’s a space that reflects the homeowner’s unique personality.
A captivating mural graces the far end of the passageway, adding a vibrant and personalized touch. This artistic expression complements the homeowner’s collection of antique wall panels displayed along the walls, further enriching the space with character.
To achieve a cohesive modern look, we transformed the existing parquet skirting. By repainting it in the same color as the bedroom door frames, we created a unified aesthetic that ties the entire passageway together.
A Room for Learning and Inspiration
The bedroom at Block 607 Senja Road seamlessly blends functionality and comfort, creating an ideal environment for studying and relaxation. A key feature is the custom-designed long study table. This versatile piece boasts built-in shelving, providing ample storage for books and study materials. To ensure a clutter-free workspace, we incorporated a concealed wire management tray, keeping cords organized and out of sight.
Furthermore, the strategic placement of the study table maximizes the use of natural light, fostering a bright and inspiring atmosphere that is conducive to focused work or studying.
A Multifunctional Retreat
The study room at Block 607 Senja Road cleverly transforms into a guest haven when needed. To maximize space and functionality, we incorporated a top cabinet with a display shelf, offering storage and a platform for showcasing personal items.
The room boasts ample space for a motorized adjustable study desk, allowing for comfortable working or studying. A unique design element is the rose gold feature mirror panel. This not only adds a touch of color to the space but also serves a clever purpose: concealing the backing and reinforcement of the walk-in wardrobe in the adjoining room.
When guests arrive, the empty space readily accommodates a sofa bed, providing a comfortable sleeping area. Additionally, potential remains for the addition of an extra storage unit, catering to future needs for increased organization.
A Luxurious Master Retreat
The master bedroom at Block 607 Senja Road exudes a sense of luxury and comfort. The focal point is the stunning TV feature wall, constructed with a combination of marble laminate and shaker bottom panels. This design choice adds a sophisticated touch while also cleverly accommodating the necessary electrical points within the thicker wall structure.
For a touch of elegance, the bed is framed by a beautiful beadboard feature wall. This element not only serves as a stylish backdrop but also added light for ambience and to soften the atmosphere . Maximizing every inch of space, we incorporated built-in cabinets within the niche under the windows, providing additional storage solutions without compromising the room’s flow.

To maintain a clean aesthetic, the wardrobe seamlessly integrates with the adjoining study room through a cleverly concealed feature wall. This space-saving solution provides a cohesive flow throughout the master suite. Additionally, this design makes it possible to have a walk-in wardrobe while still keeping the study room spacious.
