After being approached by Atrium Residences for a retiling, we carried out this case study to find out whether pool liners would work more effectively for them.

Quick Installation
Swimming pool companies can install vinyl liners quickly and easily, much faster than other options. For example, installing traditional tiles can take weeks or months, but vinyl can be fully installed by a pool company in about a week. This is great if you are building a pool in the summer and want to enjoy it as soon as possible. In addition, vinyl is much cheaper than tiling options, so if you don’t want to break the bank in the pool, vinyl is a great alternative.
Low Maintenance
Vinyl pools require maintenance, but less than tiling options. Due to its smoothness, debris is less likely to be collected, allowing for cleaner water to be obtained. Remember that you need to know which cleaning agent to use with these liners. This will extend the life of the liner and allow you to enjoy the liner for a longer period of time.
Smooth to the touch
Vinyl is a much smoother option, and is more easy on your hands and feet as compared to tiles. This will prevent scratches and cuts that can easily occur if you were to slip or fall, rubbing against the sometimes sharp and rough edges of the tiles.

T H E E X E C U T I O N
Atrium Residences approached us, looking for a solution to their pool tiling and requested for a retiling. We took a trip down to their facility in order to find out what exactly was the problem, and discuss which option would be the most suitable for them. After weighing the benefits, we went through with applying pool liner instead of retiling.
THE PROCESS
BEFORE: Surface Stains
Surface stains are caused mostly by copper, calcium, and salt. These stain the pool and cause it to develop a blueish gray tint, or they form a crystal deposit. Surface stains are referred to as topical stains in the pool business. A topical stain will adhere to the plaster surface in the same way that dirt adheres to a windshield.
Rust stains
It may have begun as a little rust spot the size of a cent on the bottom of your pool. The spot begins to develop over time. Your relatives and acquaintances are now remarking on the enormous rust stain. It might be caused by oxidizing rebar or a tie wire in the pool shell.
These annoyances can be cut out, patched, and covered with pool plaster, but the restoration will leave a visible patch on the pool’s bottom or wall. Furthermore, if there are too many of these rust spots, the entire pool may need to be resurfaced. The swimming pool of Atrium Residences showed many rust stains surrounding all of its pool inlets. Pumps push filtered & treated water back into the pool through a number of inlets, also called jets. Therefore quite often, rust stains form around the outlet jets within the pool. This is due to the metal concentration in the water, mainly comprising of copper algaecide.
Applying of the pool liner
With proper wall preparation, floor preparation, installation, setting and filling of the pool, the application process was complete. Following these steps, we carefully tested and observed the pool day and night, to ensure everything was in top notch condition
